You moved the iPad to the other side of the desk — now the Mac has to know. Usually that means System Settings, dragging tiles, guessing which one is “2”. Here it is one tap on an arrow, right next to your Mac, and the desktop follows. Sidecar at its full value, the TV on the wall, a Windows laptop or an iPhone through the browser — all from one small window that is always at hand.

FREE SECOND SCREEN FOR YOUR Mac
Use your iPad, iPhone, Windows laptop, Android tablet or Apple TV as a second screen for your Mac over Wi‑Fi. One tap on an arrow moves the iPad to the other side of the desk, and the desktop follows. Made and used every day at ProStudio1, our podcast, photo and video studio in Hollywood, FL, 30 minutes from Miami.
Left in the morning, right by the window in the afternoon — the iPad goes where the light is. Tap the arrow and the desktop slides after it; the mouse crosses over exactly where the iPad really stands. No Displays panel, no dragging tiles. The app finds your iPad by itself and remembers the side for next time.

Use your iPhone or Windows PC as a second screen — over Wi‑Fi, free
No cable, no app on the other side. Turn on the Virtual Display, scan the QR code — and a Windows laptop, an Android tablet, an old iPad or an iPhone turned sideways becomes a second screen for your Mac over Wi‑Fi. Any browser will do. The private link works only on your network.

A 4K export, a photo batch, a render, an AI agent writing code — close the lid and it keeps going, on battery, with no monitor attached. ProStudio Display watches the temperature the whole time: if the Mac gets too hot, say in a backpack, it lets it sleep on its own.

ProStudio1 is a podcast, photo and video studio in Miami. We make premium content for our clients, and tools like this one make our team’s day simpler: a client watching on the iPad while the editor cuts on the Mac, a Windows laptop as a second monitor next to the camera, a render finishing with the lid shut. We build what we need, use it daily, and give it away — free.

Questions about ProStudio Display
Is ProStudio Display really free?
Yes. There is no price, no trial and no subscription, and no trackers or banners. Download it and it is yours. We build our own tools for the studio and share them.
Which Macs does it run on?
Any Mac with macOS 13 Ventura or newer, Apple silicon or Intel. It is one universal app of about 5 MB, signed and notarized by Apple.
Do I need to install anything on the iPad, iPhone or Windows PC?
No. The iPad connects through Sidecar, which is built into your Mac. An iPhone, a Windows laptop or an Android tablet only needs a browser: turn on the Virtual Display, scan the QR code or open the private link on the same Wi‑Fi. It works only on your network.
Can I use an Apple TV or a smart TV as a monitor for my Mac?
Yes. Apple TV and AirPlay televisions appear in the same list as your iPad. One press and the TV is a monitor, extended or mirrored, without an HDMI cable.
How do I move the iPad to the other side of my desk?
Tap the left, up or right arrow in the app. The desktop slides after the iPad, and the mouse crosses over exactly where the iPad really stands. The app remembers the side for next time.
Can my Mac keep working with the lid closed?
Yes. A 4K export, a photo batch, a render or an AI agent keeps going on battery with no monitor attached. The app watches the temperature the whole time and lets the Mac sleep on its own if it gets too hot, for example in a backpack.
Is it an alternative to Sidecar or Duet Display?
It works with Sidecar and adds what it leaves out: a side switch, the hidden resolutions, Apple TV, and any browser as a screen. It is free, with no account and no dongle.
Who makes it, and where do I get help?
ProStudio Display is made by ProStudio 1 LLC, the team behind the ProStudio1 podcast, photo and video studio in Hollywood, FL. Write from the Support window inside the app and attach a screenshot in one click, or email nik@prostudio1.com. Real people read every message, usually the same day.
